Robust Speech Messaging on the Power Wheelchair Assistant System
Human-Computer Interaction Institute - Carnegie Mellon University (2010)
The project was to provide a better user interface for patients through voice recognition technology on the powered wheelchair assistant system. We have developed a simulator of the existing Virtual Coach system of Carnegie Mellon University to overcome the limitations on the portability due to complex hardware and to better see the feasibility of the system through user testing. "Predictive speech-to-text" technology of TravellingWave's VoicePredict has been chosen and integrated with the Virtual Coach System to provide robust speech based commands and messaging.
